Our Mission Team

Since 2013, GUMC has partnered with Craig and Joanna McClure in San José, San Pedro De Macoris, Dominican Republic, to send an international mission team with a singular purpose: to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Each year, we return to work hand-in-hand with the local community, and this year, 22 team members participated.

Our mission trips focus on two core goals:

1. **Construction Projects:** We dedicate five days to completing a meaningful construction project. In the past, we’ve been privileged to work on buildings that serve the community, including the Church in San José, a water purification plant, a classroom and administration building, a community kitchen, homes, and even latrines—an essential but often overlooked necessity in daily life.

2. **Community Outreach:** Part of our team ventures out each day to surrounding villages to spread the message of Jesus. This outreach often includes hosting Vacation Bible School (VBS) events for local children, and a women's ministry for the moms. We also are blessed by our GUMC sewing ministry and are able to distribute dresses and bags to many in the community along with health kits (containing essentials like soap and toothpaste), and build relationships through follow-up visits. Over the years, our efforts have contributed to the establishment of several new churches in these villages.

It has been an ongoing blessing to serve in the Dominican Republic, and we are already preparing for next year’s trip. If you're interested in joining or supporting our mission, please contact us at trenton@graysonumc.org.

Missionaries

Jesus said to His disciples, 19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Matthew 28:19-20

Just as Jesus commissioned His disciples, so is the missionary commissioned. The role of a missionary is to promote the gospel, make disciples of Jesus Christ and fulfill the Great Commission. Of course, they need resources to accomplish their mission whether they are called to a fledgling church, into a jungle, or anywhere in between.

Grayson UMC provides that needed support in the form of money, supplies, and prayers. We are proud that our efforts are churchwide whether financial gifts, collecting supplies, or our Sunday Schools, Small Groups, and Circles choosing to directly support missionaries themselves.

Many of the missionaries we support are not listed below due to in-country concerns.
